Manuel works within the Balian Diplomatic Agency Team, providing strategic advice for development, leasing, disposals and acquisitions to diplomatic missions in London.

Manuel has specialized in lease consultancy and commercial agency since he began his career as a surveyor in the City of London in 2012 after completing a BSc Hon. Degree in Urban Planning at Oxford Brookes University and an LLB (Law Degree) at BPP University of London.

His solid understanding of the City of London and West-End property markets, together with his specialised planning policy and property law knowledge has allowed him to advise a wide range of clients ranging from public sector companies, listed companies, private clients, investors and occupiers on all their real estate activities.

Manuel is fluent in Spanish and English.

Andrew Gifford

Andrew Gifford has over 30 years experience in politics and public affairs providing a unique interface to the UK government for our clients.

Before joining Balian, Andrew founded GWJ Government Relations, the lead European public affairs company and also co-founded the publishing company; 4th Estate. A founder of Heritage Oil and director of a number of investment trusts which specialise in real estate. He is also chairman of Trust Estates with family links to one of Central London’s principal historic landowners.

Andrew has wide experience of political and regulatory issues at UK and International levels. He has advised on private legislation including the Channel Tunnel, Cross Rail, Dartford Crossing and Canary Wharf. He has consulted on many international mergers and acquistions for commercial clients and has counselled countries on international treaties and protocols.

Andrew Schofield FRICS
Senior Surveyor

Andrew was previously a Partner at Delva Patman Redler LLP. Having trained with Rutherfords Chartered Building Surveyors he subsequently worked for the Brittain Hadley Partnership and Conrad Ritblat then moving on to found Arena Property Services Ltd and Schofield Surveyors.

Andrew has a degree in Building Surveying from Anglia University and became a Fellow of the Royal Institute of Chartered Surveyors in 2014.

Andrew undertakes Balian’s conventional building surveying work often as Contract Administrator; from the inspection of buildings and preparation of reports (acquisition, planned maintenance and pathology), construction project contract administration, “dilapidations” (acting for landlords and tenants) and “neighbourly matters” including party walls and boundary disputes. Andrew’s expertise in the field of dilapidations has in turn resulted in his engagement as Contract Administrator to undertake works.

Michael Perlin FRICS IRRV MCIArb
Senior Surveyor

Michael specialised in Landlord and Tenant matters. With over 45 years experience in the field as a chartered surveyor there is almost nothing he hasn’t seen or solved in that time. Whether rent reviews, lease renewals, arbitration or acting as an expert witness, Michael is well known and respected by his peers and the panels he gives evidence before. An appointed Independent Arbitrator and Expert Witness of the Dispute Resolution Service of the RICS Michael knows the potential pitfalls and can avoid them well before they ever get to an arbitration panel so that our clients consider themselves invariably well protected in his safe hands.

Mehmet Akseki
Senior Surveyor

Mehmet is in charge of the financial side of investment acquisitions and asset management providing a key interface between the real estate experts and the family office managers who purchase through Balian. As a banker he is able to advise directly on purchases and managed asset portfolios to his counterparts thereby providing the correct market information in the right way for our investment clients. From 2012 to 2018 Mehmet was with RiverRock coordinating the firms investment strategy through special purchase acquisition companies and later establishing its Capital Markets and Advisory business. Prior to this he was with Bear Stearns in London in their European Investment Banking team working with a number of high profile funds and companies. His former team at Global Securities saw Mehmet advising clients such as Lukoil, Tatneft, Mediaset, Imperial Tobacco Group and Globeground.

Simon Dorrington
Head of Agency

Simon is Head of Agency for the London Office and responsible for overseeing the commercial development, leasing, acquisition and specialist surveying work for corporate and family office clients in the City and West End.

With over 12 years experience in investment acquisition and disposal, asset management and leasing, Simon began his career at Maris and joined Balian subsequent to working at the Oak Investment Management Group in Belgravia. He is known for compiling building by building databases for Mayfair and Belgravia with a keen interest in lease particulars, valuations and yields. This almost forensic approach to research has gained Simon a reputation amongst his peers for knowing more about certain buildings than their owners.

Simon has recently been involved in acquiring a building for the Nanjing Regional Government in Soho, a disposal in Stukeley Street Covent Garden and the acquisition of the Royal College of Psychiatrists new headquarters in E1 subsequent to the disposal of their former HQ in Belgrave Square.

Simon is fluent in English and Spanish.

Nataliya has worked in the commercial real estate industry for over 12 years and is responsible for client relations and business development in prime Kiev, Moscow and Warsaw markets. She compiles investment portfolios for corporate and private family office clients as well as maintaining Balian’s diplomatic client relationships in the region. Her experience is unique given the many diverse backgrounds of investors she has helped to successfully achieve strong returns during the years of volatile growth and geopolitical developments across eastern europe. These clients have established long term relationships with Balian and her successful dependable discrete approach had led to steady growth in our client base through introductions and referrals.

Nataliya is fluent in Russian, Ukrainian, Polish, Spanish and English.

Tomasz Kluszczynski
Tomasz is a senior surveyor in our Warsaw office

Tomasz helps occupiers align their strategic financial, business and operational objectives with their real estate needs covering all aspects of occupier representation from lease acquisition, renewal and relocation and consolidation services.

He is able to provide detailed advice on occupier demand, trends and constraints in Poland to both local and international companies, private equity and overseas investors.

Tomasz graduated from University College Oxford with two degrees and a scholarship from Mercedes Benz. He has successfully represented many companies in their search for new space and investments, most recently he has advised an international recruitment specialist, a European pharmaceutical company and a Polish public sector firm.

Tomasz speaks Polish Russian English and Tatar.
